NEW DELHI: Sun Pharma has initiated the withdrawal of eleven ophthalmic products from the market. This decision comes after a directive from the company’s distribution arm, instructing retailers to cease further supplies and to remove existing stocks from the market. This communication, dated July 17, was accessed by the Times of India (TOI).
The products included in the withdrawal are Depopred 2ml, Brinolar (BKC Free), Brinzotim Eye Drops 5ml (BKC Free), Lotepred 5ml, Lotepred 1% Eye Drops 5ml, Lotepred LS 0.2% Eye Drops 5ml, Lotepred T, Nepalact OD Eye Drops 3ml, Nepalact-Z, Toba-F, and Nepalact E/D 5ml. These medications are commonly prescribed for conditions such as glaucoma, post-operative inflammation, allergic eye diseases, and bacterial eye infections.
In response to inquiries from TOI, a spokesperson for Sun Pharma stated:
“We have initiated a proactive voluntary withdrawal of some ophthalmic products as a matter of abundant precaution. Product quality and patient safety are important to us.”
However, the company did not provide details regarding the reasons behind this withdrawal, nor did it clarify whether any manufacturing or quality concerns were involved.
