In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court of India on Friday granted pre-arrest bail to V Senthil Balaji, a prominent figure from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, in connection with a corruption case linked to Tasmac, the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation.
The court highlighted that the state is no longer impacted by what it termed as Balaji’s “so-called malefic influence.” In its ruling, the court emphasized the importance of Balaji’s cooperation throughout the investigation, explicitly instructing him not to tamper with evidence or attempt to influence any witnesses involved in the case.
