The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has submitted a report to the Kerala High Court, designating Sabarimala as the primary location for the pilot phase of its Enterprise Digital Transformation programme. This initiative is particularly timely, coming ahead of the Mandalam-Makaravilakku season at the Sabarimala Temple.
During the proceedings, the Division Bench, composed of Justices V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and K.V. Jayakumar, learned that the board has allocated an advance sum of ₹15 lakh to cover the initial operational costs of the project management unit that will oversee this transformation.
The report elaborated on the programme’s objectives, which include enhancing transparency, operational efficiency, accountability, and financial discipline related to temple administration and public engagement.
Implementation Strategy
As part of the strategy, an AS-IS study will be conducted to evaluate the board’s current business processes. Additionally, module-specific workshops are planned to finalize the needs in critical areas such as accounts, temple administration, and sales.
The court was also updated on staffing, revealing that No Objection Certificates had been secured from the State regarding the appointments of Rahul A. Raj as the chief administrative officer and K.P. Noufal as the chief software architect for the project management unit.
Technical Developments
Furthermore, it was mentioned that a formal agreement with the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (Keltron) is nearing completion. This agreement pertains to the acquisition of necessary hardware for the project.
In terms of operational management, the K-Suite file management system, which is already utilized by local self-government institutions throughout Kerala, has been adopted for the daily operations of the project.
The court has instructed the board to provide a detailed timeline outlining significant milestones and anticipated completion dates. This will facilitate effective monitoring of the project’s advancement and ensure it stays on track.
