Drone Assault in Moscow Claims Two Lives

Russia has reported a significant drone attack from Ukraine targeting the Moscow region, resulting in two deaths and multiple injuries. Russian authorities are calling the incident a “massive” attack, as 249 drones were reportedly intercepted.

Amid this assault, Moscow Governor Andrei Vorobyev confirmed the fatalities and injuries, adding that several fires broke out in residential areas and a warehouse. The capital’s oil refinery also suffered damage, leading to flight constraints at major airports, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo.

Amid the chaos, Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin revealed that a drone had managed to hit a building close to one of the city’s boulevards, damaging an oil facility. Sobyanin noted that over 150 drones intended for the city had been neutralized.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is reeling from its own losses. On the same day, a missile attack in Kyiv led to the deaths of a mother and her two young children. Furthermore, in the Sumy region, four individuals perished when their vehicle was struck by a drone, officials have stated.

The conflict has seen intensified exchanges, with both nations targeting critical infrastructure such as energy plants and transport depots. Since Russia began its large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the two countries have ramped up military efforts, exacerbating destruction and loss on both sides.
