Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu recently marked the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram as a historic event that promises to reshape the future of Uttarandhra. He emphasized that this milestone will linger in the memories of the region’s citizens for generations to come.
During the inauguration ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and various dignitaries, Minister Rammohan Naidu described the occasion as more than a mere government project; he dubbed it a celebration for every family in Andhra Pradesh.
The Minister highlighted that since taking office, he has inaugurated 16 aviation-related initiatives alongside the Prime Minister, but none have witnessed such substantial public engagement. He expressed pride in this event’s significance, especially as a local from Uttarandhra.
Minister Rammohan Naidu recalled that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu originally proposed the Bhogapuram airport project during a previous administration. He credited former Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju for helping advance the initiative, culminating in its realization under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
It is noteworthy that the airport’s inauguration coincides with the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) governance, where he serves as the Union Civil Aviation Minister, marking a significant achievement for the region.
Expressing optimism, the Union Minister stated that the new international airport is set to create unparalleled opportunities in sectors such as investment, tourism, trade, industry, and employment, effectively placing the region on a global platform. He mentioned that the government is also planning to establish aviation training facilities aimed at equipping local youth with essential skills to facilitate job generation in the burgeoning aviation sector.
Furthermore, he stated that the Bhogapuram airport would enhance tourism and strengthen connectivity to important religious sites in the area. Alongside current initiatives like the Google data center, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) project, and the South Coast Railway Zone, these developments will transform Uttarandhra into a significant economic hub.
