Charles Kelley, the co-lead vocalist of the celebrated country group Lady A, has publicly disclosed his diagnosis with multiple myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer. The announcement was made through a heartfelt Instagram video where he was joined by his wife, Cassie. Kelley detailed a series of medical tests prompted by unexpected rib fractures that ultimately revealed the cancer.
The Nashville-based musician, who is 45 years old, has been an integral part of the trio formerly known as Lady Antebellum since its inception in 2006. Lady A has been lauded in the music industry, clinching six Grammy awards with hits such as “Need You Now” and “American Honey.”
A Positive Outlook
In his announcement, Kelley displayed a positive attitude, emphasizing the advancements in treatment for his condition and how they have improved over the past few years. He noted that despite the severity of the diagnosis, the life expectancy for patients has increased significantly. “I’m hopeful,” he conveyed, suggesting that his outlook on life remains as vibrant as ever.
