Macklemore Sets Out on ‘Free Palestine’ Tour Following Ed Sheeran Dispute

Rapper Macklemore has unveiled his new ‘Free Palestine’ tour, shortly after his controversial remarks led to his removal from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour. Announced in light of the fallout, the tour will commence next month in Dublin, with proceeds directed towards Palestinian aid organizations.

Known for his outspoken social and political views, Macklemore declared, “When powerful interests can choose which voices are heard, it affects everyone.” These comments come after his vocal support for Palestinian rights during a concert in New Jersey, resulting in his exclusion from Sheeran’s tour lineup.

Response and Repercussions

His pro-Palestinian rhetoric sparked public backlash and resulted in accusations of hate speech from prominent figures, including billionaire stadium owner Robert Kraft. Macklemore was accused of dividing public opinion with his remarks, which emphasized the situation in Gaza.

After being dropped on September 14, the rapper accused venue owners of influencing his removal. However, Ed Sheeran clarified that the decision rested with the tour promoter, distancing himself from the controversy though acknowledging the sensitive nature of the topic.

Tour Details and Future Plans

The tour kicks off in Dublin on October 26, followed by performances in Paris and London. Although some aspects of the tour remain to be finalized, Macklemore is working to expand his lineup to include dates in the United States, with tickets released soon.
