This achievement follows her impressive victory at the US Open quarter-finals, not letting the challenge of dropping a set stop her from defeating China’s Zheng Qinwen. This win is pivotal as it propels her past Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, who maintained the top spot for 99 weeks.

Rybakina’s journey to this peak began late in 2025, where she quickly made her mark by winning the Ningbo Open, not long after a loss to Sabalenka at the Wuhan Open.
